Project Description...
| The owners, both artist and art collectors provided ample opportunity to create dramatic lighting effects. Accent lighting plays with form and shadow to accentuate the client’s art collection. Flexibility in the lighting design was necessary as the home is a living breathing art gallery. As art pieces are changed out as their collection expands and evolves. The lighting scheme was designed to be easily adjusted by the homeowners over time. Accent lighting in combination with warm, hidden lighting creates a feel that can only be described as magical. |

Aspen, Colorado
Project Description...
| This remodeled home along Aspen’s Roaring fork river was awarded an International Illumination Award of merit by the IESNA. The great room, which is filled with multiple spaces under a single ceiling, was illuminated primarily with recessed adjustable pinhole accents. By using adjustable fixtures and aligning the lights with the architecture, the spaces below are properly accented. The custom plated recessed lights appear as rivets holding together the structure at the seams. Lighting hidden within kitchen cabinets, the fireplace facade and bar counter add warm glows to the great room. An in-floor slot underneath the cantilevered stairs provides functional lighting from the stairs while creating its own art-light sculpture. The lighting design brings out the warm wood features in the office, bedroom and great room. |

Inside flexibility in the Art Hall is given through the use of a flush recessed track and architectural looking track heads. Soft focus lenses are used to eliminate the ability to see where the art light starts and stops. The centerpiece of this contemporary home is a stairway connecting the upper house to the lower house. The risers are backlit, the textured walls are uplit and recessed lights are not used in this long, dramatic stair. Hidden lighting effects and a touch of colored lighting add more visual impact to this incredible home. |
